Nike to become Everton’s kit manufacturer

Rumours began spreading that Nike would be our kit manufacturer last season, but today it was confirmed by some of the ITK’s (in the know’s) who are usually spot on regarding the Everton kits & merchandise that Nike will, from next season be manufacturing the Everton kits. For how long it’s not yet sure, but it’s certainly a positive step marketing wise for the club.
Some opinions on the forums are though different to mine. Some of the fans are somewhat disappointed with the news as LCS made us our best kit in years this season, and I agree. But, I cannot forgive them for that pink ‘thing’ last year. Last years home shirt was also very nice, but LCS isn’t a brand many choose to wear in terms of merchandise, and every year they seem to drop a clanger in regards to one of our kits (this year see GK top).

Honestly what were they thinking with that kit? God knows how they came to a decision on it.
From a marketing perspective this is a good move for Everton. Very rare these days you walk down a street and don’t see any Nike shirts, it’s a global presence and a respected one at that. LCS not so much, I personally wouldn’t buy anything other than the Everton home top by LCS, with Nike I’ll certainly consider buying more.
Now we seem to have disposed of LCS, I hope the Kitbag deal is next. That to me was one of the worst moves Everton have made. Yes, there’s a good selection of items on there, but we cannot sell our items anywhere else. You walk in any sports store other than Kitbag across the country and you won’t find anything Everton. It was an awful marketing decision by the club.
Hopefully we’ll get the same range of merchandise, probably not, but I’m willing to bet we’ll sell a hell of a lot more Nike merchandise than we did LCS.
